The mission of the Wilber Jones Home for Veterans (WJHV) a nonprofit organization is to provide veterans and disabled veterans both men and women with the resources that will equip them to re-enter into society confidently and successfully. The Wilber Jones Home for Veterans is a transitional home for veterans and disabled veterans.

Wilber Jones Home for Veterans, Inc. (WJHV) is an organization for homeless men, women and their children. WJHV transition homes help homeless veteran’s successfully transition from service life to civilian life. The Wilber Jones Home for Veterans uses a non-traditional holistic approach to fill in the gaps and the unmet needs of veterans and their families (we welcome all religious persuasions). WJHV was founded on the theory of reciprocity. We believe in the Balanced and Symmetrical thoery of an informal system of exchange “veterans helping veterans”. We believe that the return will be seen in the stability of our veterans, their family lives and their ability to successfully re-enter society as a positives contributor. WJHV offers programs that will address: substance abuse, alcoholism, mental illness and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) which will be disseminated via educational mediums, in addition to programs in: nutrition; physical fitness; employment resources; along with basic life skills to elevate veterans in finding suitable permanent housing will be offered.
Wilber Jones Home for Veterans Philosophy
WJHV primary focus is working with the veterans…assets instead of their deficits… stated by Bonnie Benard. The Wilber Jones Home for Veterans believes that veterans can obtain self-efficiency, and then help other veterans. WJHV also encourages family mediation to assist family members in understanding why a spouse or child may have behavioral problems. While every family is different, understanding family dynamics is of great impotance that needs addressing to foster healthy and stable family units. According to the 2007 Chaleng Report there are at lest 154,000 homeless veterans that are on the street on any given night. The primary goal of WJHV is to help get our homeless veterans off the streets.
